SRT 1 (Swiftwater Rescue Technician 1)

Contents: Swiftwater rescue course for technician level.

Requirements: good health condition and swimming skills.

Duration: 3 days 30+ hours (40+ h advised)

Methodical structure: theory, practice, real scenarios.

Description:
This class is an intensive three-days which alternates lectures with “hands on” sessions at the riverbank and in the water. The initial emphasis is on developing self-rescue skills.
Other objectives include an in-depth look at such subjects as: understanding water dynamics, handling hazards and obstacles, using basic rescue equipment, setting up technical rope systems, controlling in-water contact rescues, and much more.

Some topics:
Rescue philosophy, priorities and options, river morphology and hydrology, self Rescue techniques, protective equipment & rescue gear, water rescue skills and techniques,
rope rescue techniques (Knots, Anchor Systems, Tensioning Systems), safety during rescue operations, communication, handling witnesses and bystanders, advanced techniques,
vehicle rescue, high risk scenarios (Foot and body entrapments, Boat Wraps and Pins)
Note: The range of subjects covered by this course is so wide that we definitely advice you on participating to the Additional day “REAL”.

Cost: 250,00 EURO (+IVA 20%)

Validity:
SRT certification is valid for 3 years. In order to update the certificate it is necessary to repeat the entire course. (The cost for the re-certification is 50%).
In every course there are five spaces available for recerts.

Rescue3™
SRT ADVANCED

Contents: Swiftwater rescue course for advanced technician level.

Destination: Technicians who attended at least SRT 1 course

Requirements: SRT-1 certification (*), good health condition and swimming skills.

Duration: 4 days + 1 night SAR (45+ hours)

Methodical structure: theory, practice, real scenarios

Description:
It is the second of two units.

Some topics:
It emphasizes victim rescue/recovery and sharpens rescue skills taught in SRT 1 within more difficult and hazardous environments, such as low head dams rescue and others.
An in-depth look on advanced rope work techniques will adapt horizontal rope systems to vertical situations.
Highlight of this course is the application of new search and rescue techniques (SAR) in limited visibility (night search).
Critical matters such as rescue management and group dynamics are deeply explored.

Cost: 400,00 EURO (+IVA 20%)

Validity:
SRT certification is valid for 3 years. In order to update the certificate it is necessary to repeat the entire course. (The cost for the re-certification is 50%).
In every course there are five spaces available for recerts.

Note: if your skills have waned since taking the SRT 1 course (especially rope work techniques), you may find it more appropriate to attend the original course again, as others have done in the past.
(We guarantee it will not be a repetition as you will get plenty of new information you did not notice while attending the previous session!).

Additional day REAL

Contents: Implementation of the SRT 1 techniques in complex scenarios.

Destination: Technicians who attended at least SRT 1 course.

Requirements: SRT 1 certification or superior.

Duration: 1 day 10 + hours.

Methodical structure: scenario.

Description:
During the SRT 1 course every skill was practiced and implemented in a simple scenario; in this "hands on" day we build complex scenarios where all the techniques are involved in different settings.
Time pressure, decisional attitude, teamwork and other factors that play an important role in a real rescue are concerned.
A deep and accurate analysis of the dynamics occurred will end the day.
“Hours” on books cannot substitute the amazing value of this training

S.A.F.E. seminars & Special Training

Once you acquired the basics with the courses lev. 1 and Advanced you can get specialized.
S.A.F.E. offers a wide choice of special rescue training and seminars, with different length of duration depending on the subjects treated. For example CAR-RESCUE, duration 20 hours in 2 days, FLOOD-RESCUE WITH RAFTS, duration minimum 35 hours, read more....

Some topics: with scenarios ranging from low to high risk the following techniques are implemented: stabilization of the vehicle (car, motor home, minibus, etc...), access, evacuation of the victim/s.

Requirements: good health condition and swimming skills. Previous articipation in the coures Lev 1 and Advanced.

• INFLATED FIRE HOSE - How to use an inflated fire hose.

Duration: 2 days 20+ hours
Methodical structure: theory, practice

Contents: rescues with inflated fire hose.

Some topics: review of the most important “Go” rescue techniques and application of the inflated fire hose. Rescue from a bridge, artificial channel, low head dam rescue.

• RAFT RESCUE Lev 1

Contents: specific basic course for raft handling in rescue & floods operation.

Some topics: basic & advanced maneuvers, most common rescues/recovery scenarios with a raft, transport of medical personnel for stabilization, transport of victims and evacuation from flooded houses.

Contents: specific advanced course for raft management in rescue & floods operations.

Some topics: going beyond! In Level one, the aim was just get the awareness of the dont's, now we proceed we to do's.
We will be working in high risk rescue scenarios like low head dams, wrapped rafts, building transport systems for medical stabilization, get ropes across the river, evacuations, etc...

Requirements: good health condition and swimming skills. It's necessary to have participated in the first module, RAFT RESCUE Lev 1
